Soul Eater

Soul Eater diangkat dari manga karangan Atsushi Okubo. Adaptasi manga Soul Eater ke anime ditangani oleh Takuya Igarashi dan animasinya dikerjakan oleh Bones (Darker Than Black, Wolf's Rain). Anime yang ditayangkan oleh TV Tokyo sejak tanggal 7 April 2008 ini mempunyai 2 versi yang berbeda dalam penayangannya, versi regular ditayangkan setiap senin jam 6 sore dan versi lainnya yaitu "Soul Eater Late Show" yang ditayangkan tengah malam.
Sesuai dengan judulnya, anime ini bercerita tentang Soul Eater dan partnernya Maka. Maka adalah murid dari Shibusen (Shinigami Buki Shokunin Senmon Gakko) sedangkan Soul Eater adalah 'senjata' dari Maka yang berbentuk scythe. Tokoh lain dalam anime ini adalah Black Star dengan Tsubaki yang bisa berubah menjadi kusarigama dan berbagai senjata ninja lainnya, serta Death the Kid dengan dual gun-nya Thompson Sister (Liz n Patty). Tujuan mereka sebagai murid shibusen adalah menyempurnakan 'senjata' mereka agar menjadi Death Scythe, senjata untuk Shinigami, sekaligus mencegah bangkitnya 'kishin', iblis yang dulu hampir memusnahkan segalanya.
Selain ide ceritanya yang cukup unik, Soul Eater memakai gambar-gambar surealis yang menjadikan anime ini menjadi makin unik. Selain itu kelucuan-kelucuan yang ada juga menjadikan Soul Eater sangat menarik untuk diikuti.

Moe

Kata 'moe' sebenarnya susah untuk diartikan baik dalam bahasa Indonesia maupun Inggris. Beberapa sumber menyatakan kata 'moe' digunakan untuk menunjukkan karakteristik maupun ketertarikan, seperti contohnya menganekko-moe (glasses-moe) bisa diartikan ketertarikan seseorang terhadap karakter (atau mungkin juga orang) yang memakai kacamata. leh karena itu definisi 'moe' berbeda bagi setiap orang, sesuatu yang dianggap 'moe' oleh seseorang belum tentu 'moe' bagi orang lain.
Penggunaan 'moe' hampir sama dengan penggunaan kata 'kawaii' yang biasa digunakan oleh kaum wanita dalam menunjukkan ketertarikannya terhadap sesuatu yang 'cute', walaupun ada beberapa orang yang mengatakan bahwa sesuatu yang 'kawaii' belum tentu 'moe'. Bisa dikatan juga bahwa 'moe' mewakili sebuah perasaan yang mirip saat seseorang melihat sesuatu dan punya perasaan langsung menyukainya, sebuah perasaan yang mungkin tidak bisa diungkapkan dengan kata lain^^.
